“Let there be peace, freedom and unity” – with these words Victor Orbán addressed the public, alluding to a historic battle cry of the 1848 revolution. The Hungarian leader used Hungary’s National Day as a battleground for political gain. So did his opponent, Péter Magyar of the opposition Tisza Party (aka. Tisza Párt). A huge rally of his supporters, whom Orbán compared to “insects” (Heteroptera to be correct – Editor) that have “survived too long,” gathered in Budapest on Saturday. To tell us more, Zoltán Tarr, a member of the European People’s Party and deputy chairman of the Tisza Party, joins TVP World.
